WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - U.S. industrial production rose 0.5% in June, the Federal Reserve reported Tuesday. Capacity utilization rose to 81.7% from 81.4%. This is the highest level of utilization since last October. Economists were expecting production to rise 0.6% and capacity utilization to rise to 81.6%. Production is up at a 2.9% annual rate in the second quarter , after rising at a 1.1% rate in the first three months of the year. Manufacturing output rose 0.6% in June. Output of utilities rose 0.3%.
