Pois, ocorreu-me que se tratasse disso (evocar a memória desse dia) mas como não estava claro...
FLOP - Fundamental Laws Of Profit
1. Mais vale perder um ganho que ganhar uma perda, a menos que se cumpra a Segunda Lei.
2. A expectativa de ganho deve superar a expectativa de perda, onde a expectativa mede a
__.amplitude média do ganho/perda contra a respectiva probabilidade.
3. A Primeira Lei não é mesmo necessária mas com Três Leis isto fica definitivamente mais giro.
.
Relembrar neste dia, o que alguns traders (chat do activetrader) escreviam durante aquelas horas horriveis.

[00:17] <prttrdr> this girl on letterman is good
[00:17] <codeblue> yeah the prob. is that banks by their nature are leveraged, so a small hit in terms of defaults and stuff can be a big hit to reserves and the bottom line

[00:22] <pttrdr> etc
[00:22] <Cassandra> LOL
[00:22] <pttrdr> lol
[00:23] <pttrdr> when PIPR gets weak on that flying porker lcbm i am going to powe slamma jamma short that sucker
[00:23] <pttrdr> pipr you better bring the whole package tomorrow you rat bastid mm you
[00:24] <Cassandra> he has a family to feed as well, be nice
[00:24] <codeblue> ICBM - no such symbol
[00:24] <Cassandra> mm's are just traders with better tools and more money
[00:24] <codeblue> cool symbol tho
[00:24] <pttrdr> it cleared one 100k high block
[00:24] <pttrdr> LCBM
[00:24] <Alvero> Lcbm
[00:24] <pttrdr> without PIPR it is doomed
[00:24] <codeblue> oops - let me refocus that screen
[00:24] <pttrdr> when pipr leaves there is zero support
[00:25] <pttrdr> but pipr has been strong
[00:25] <pttrdr> gotta go through at least one day of support so the retail people that the pipr phone brigade sucked in wont cry too loudly
[00:25] <codeblue> what does LCBM's stuff do?
[00:26] <dp1> news release says FDA approval just a formality now
[00:26] <dp1> controls scarring
[00:26] <codeblue> Lee Schafer, an analyst with Bluefire Research, said he expected Feigal to follow the panel recommendation and estimated U.S. sales of about $18 million by mid-2003, making it the Chaska, Minnesota-based company's top-selling product.
[00:26] <codeblue> $18 mil. that's peanuts
[00:27] <pttrdr> they say it helps women with feminine surgery heal better...but the facts are it works no better than the placebo and causes more infection that the placebo....the dispute committee chari was an internist who had his head turned by a presentation
[00:27] <dp1> another says $500m
[00:27] <pttrdr> i think its no better than dirty superglue
[00:27] <pttrdr> and will be rejected by the sober FDA
[00:27] <pttrdr> conspiracy theorists think the kid internist on the dispute panel was bought off
[00:28] <pttrdr> even if it is approved LCBM is trading way above future (dream ) revs
[00:28] <pttrdr> if the full FDA gently hammers it it halts and opens below 2
[00:29] <codeblue> the article is kinda interesting ... "It was clear the LifeCore presentation was compelling to the panel, both in the way they presented evidence and the strength of the evidence,'' said Scott Ramsey, the panel's acting chairman and an internist at the University of Washington in Seattle.
[00:29] <codeblue> I can't see how the insurance companies would support such a non-conclusive treatment
[00:30] <Cassandra> you havent ever had a baby by c-section and live with the scarring then
[00:30] <pttrdr> thats another thing with this preliminary approval the PIPR analyst (pipr floated the ipo) and the CFO started spewing these large numbers ...each larger than the next one would quote the "market" for such a product another would quote revs for the next 4 years then the next 3 years then this then that
[00:30] <pttrdr> its smelly
[00:30] <Cassandra> another perk of being a female, the scars suck
[00:31] <pttrdr> premature euphoria
[00:31] <codeblue> Surgeons use the gel, which has a consistency similar to motor oil, by squirting it into the body as they finish surgery. Several physicians said it is much easier to use than other products now on the market.
[00:31] <codeblue> sure hope they reach for the right can ...
[00:31] <pttrdr> i have a strong feeling that vaseline or bacitracin ointment does better
[00:32] <pttrdr> its way overdone the thing is.....when will pipr bail and the power shorts slam it back to 5 or less
[00:32] <incognito> best chart of the evening: http://www.randi.org/images/07-27-01-DOTS.gif
[00:32] <Hood> ok everybody behave
[00:32] <codeblue> When looking only at U.S. patients, ``it is clear there is very little difference between Intergel and control'' in reducing adhesions, Kotz told the panel. Another FDA reviewer said rates of infections appeared higher in patients treated with Intergel.
[00:32] <Hood> Incogs here !
[00:32] <Cassandra> and if it does work, there is a huge mkt for that, and insurance companys would support it i bet, due to the mental stress that can come with the scarring
[00:32] <incognito> Cassandra?
[00:32] <incognito> oy
[00:32] <Cassandra> hi!
[00:32] <incognito> hi
[00:33] <Cassandra> she was a Goddess
[00:33] <pttrdr> codeblue u found the key FDA phrase
[00:33] <Cassandra> Cassandra that is
[00:33] <incognito> and a witch on Dark Shadows!
[00:33] <Hood> hi
[00:33] <pttrdr> <codeblue> When looking only at U.S. patients, ``it is clear there is very little difference between Intergel and control'' in reducing adhesions, Kotz told the panel. Another FDA reviewer said rates of infections appeared higher in patients treated with Intergel.
[00:33] <incognito> Cassandra Collins
[00:33] <incognito> lol'
[00:34] <pttrdr> that is another thing....this latest presentation relied on European data and the full FDA is not prone to recommend on eurodata
[00:34] <Cassandra> Cassandra was a seer, but she was cursed with noone believing her, so her prophecys went unheeded, noteably the trojan horse
[00:34] <codeblue> Richard Kotz, an FDA statistician, said patients in Europe and the United States started with different levels of adhesions and other disparities, which meant their results should not be combined for analysis.
[00:35] <incognito> I bet she knew the rules
[00:35] <incognito> but the rules went unheeded
[00:35] <Alvero> i believe in trojans
[00:35] <incognito> lol
[00:35] <codeblue> lol
[00:36] <incognito> all the charts look the same
[00:37] <incognito> ghastly
[00:37] <codeblue> 7.5M flot on LCBM, and not a lot of short interest (or trading volume)
[00:37] <pttrdr> yup when PIPR leaves lcbm crashes hard
[00:37] <pttrdr> pipr is the only support
[00:38] <emad> any one can help and explain how to use Financialchat with mIRC please.
[00:38] <incognito> Cassandra is the expert

[00:41] <emad> I did but not work
[00:41] <Cassandra> what do you have in the connect area at File - Options - Connect - Add for a server name?

[00:42] <Light> !world
[00:42] * incognito wonders if it is plugged in
[00:43] <Cassandra> best bet is to use the dns if your having issues, instead of irc.financialchat.com use this ip
[00:43] <Cassandra> 216.152.64.211
[00:43] <Cassandra> try that instead
[00:43] <Cassandra> there may be dns issues somewhere

[00:44] <incognito> dos is hard
[00:44] <codeblue> and windows isn't?
[00:44] <incognito> lol
[00:44] <Cassandra> good advice if we were in 1996 again codeblue, hehe, but thats not needed for what he is doing
[00:44] <emad> It is working fine with other channl
[00:44] <Cassandra> he can get here on java obviously
[00:44] <codeblue> It could tell if there's a DNS prob.
[00:44] <codeblue> or a routing prob.
[00:45] <Cassandra> what other channel?
[00:45] <emad> daytrader
[00:45] <incognito> :0
[00:45] <Cassandra> ya well, thats another network
[00:45] <Cassandra> we are independant of any other irc networks
[00:46] <Cassandra> open up your mirc that you want to bring here and in the edit bar where you normally type, type /server 216.152.64.211
[00:46] <Cassandra> and tell me what ya get
[00:46] <emad> ok
[00:47] <incognito> GX had a nice day
[00:47] <Cassandra> be sure you have the connect fields filled out with a alter nickname otherwise if you log on as emad, and dont have that filled in, it will stop you on connect and tell you to pick one cuz emad is in use
[00:48] <emad> fine tnx very much.
[00:48] <incognito> seee Cassandra is the expert
[00:49] <emad> yes he is.

[00:49] <Cassandra> !
[00:50] <pttrdr> RIMM mamma slamma jamma tomorrow
[00:51] <pttrdr> reuters article tonight
[00:51] <Cassandra> ya think?
[00:51] <Cassandra> post
[00:51] <Cassandra> ive got a little interest in RIMM, i am looking to catch a bottom on it eventually
[00:51] <pttrdr> i lost it ...basically MOT taking their market
[00:51] <pttrdr> reuters around 5:30ish
[00:51] <Cassandra> thanks
[00:51] <dp1> http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/2001091 ... _dc_1.html
[00:52] <pttrdr> tks
[00:52] <Cassandra> dp1 is da man
[00:52] <rjc> RIMM BK?
[00:52] <pttrdr> the RIMM header from hell
[00:52] <pttrdr> Motorola to Invade RIM's Space with New Device
[00:52] <rjc> hey RIMM is shortable
[00:52] <rjc> lol
[00:53] <rjc> you got $9 of room suz
[00:53] <Cassandra> neah
[00:53] <Cassandra> too many monsters still left
[00:53] <Cassandra> like NVDA! yeehaw
[00:54] <incognito> MSFT making a competing video card?
[00:54] <rjc> what is wrong with DIS?
[00:54] <codeblue> NVDA as a short? I thought half the free world was long NVDA
[00:55] <Cassandra> LOL
[00:55] <Cassandra> i was short in and out NVDA all day today
[00:55] <codeblue> I learned one thing from the dotcom mania - don't short a manipulated stock - and NVDA sure looks like one - intraday is another matter
[00:56] <pttrdr> one day NVDA will break
[00:56] <Cassandra> tomorrow it will split
[00:56] <Cassandra> that will be the beginning of the end for NVDA
[00:56] <codeblue> RIMM is getting some not so good reviews because of the closed nature of its interface
[00:57] <Cassandra> it will be a 15 dollar stock by Oct 30th
[00:57] <Cassandra> IMO ofc
[00:57] <codeblue> not like the old days, where the mere rumor of a split drove the stock up 2x, so that when it split, it was the same
[00:57] <codeblue> who's NVDA's competition?
[00:58] <dp1> ATYT
[00:58] <incognito> NVDA has 80% market share
[00:58] <codeblue> ah good old ATI - I hate their stuff
[00:59] <codeblue> weird ATI settings control software and some bizarre behavior now and then
[00:59] <dp1> KKD looks broken after last split
[00:59] <codeblue> yup - there's a hole in it
[01:00] <codeblue> the chart says KKD is a $15 stock, right now $28
[01:01] <codeblue> NVDA reminds me of Sandisk and SSTI
[01:01] <incognito> I remember SNDK well in the 60s
[01:01] <codeblue> (SSTI was my sad story of the year - bought 4K at $3, sold at $12, thinking it was overpriced, and watched it go to $100 (pre-split) ... sigh)
[01:02] <Cassandra> reminds me of CIEN when i started shorting it in the 70's heh
[01:02] <incognito> shoulda just STAYED short Suz
[01:02] <Cassandra> lol
[01:02] <Cassandra> yup
[01:02] <incognito> so much easier
[01:02] <codeblue> Yeah, I shorted CIEN in the 70's and covered there too (day trade) - sign
[01:02] <codeblue> sigh
[01:03] <incognito> (but 1/2 the fun)
[01:03] <Cassandra> if i did that
[01:03] <Cassandra> what would i do all day?
[01:03] <incognito> besides our brokers need comissions
[01:03] <incognito> lol
[01:04] <codeblue> I think the selling isn't over yet - I got my first cold call in ages today
[01:04] <codeblue> they're a lot more pleasant than they used to be
[01:05] <incognito> market needs a catalyst
[01:05] <codeblue> good point
[01:05] <incognito> "WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A temporary cut in Social Security (news - web sites) payroll taxes and a capital gains tax cut are two options that could help give the flagging U.S. economy a quick boost, Senate Republican leader Trent Lott said on Monday."
[01:05] <incognito> watch Washington DC for one
[01:06] <incognito> our Senators and Reps have stock too
[01:06] <codeblue> the cap gains cut - double edged sword
[01:06] <incognito> ofc
[01:06] <codeblue> will encourage selling
[01:06] <incognito> but it would be a catalyst
[01:06] <codeblue> the selling may help add liquidity, and fill the govt. coffers - but it ain't gonna make stocks go up
[01:07] <incognito> I noticed the Feds were pumping all day to no avail. All those lame news releases.
[01:07] <codeblue> and cutting social security taxes is strange idea given the current state of the SS system
[01:07] <incognito> it would add a lot of cash to the spending public
[01:07] <codeblue> yeah - they were talking up a storm - full court press
[01:07] <incognito> didn't work
[01:07] <codeblue> me thinks they protest too much
[01:07] <LiT-LadY> will this new Motorola device have phone?
[01:08] <incognito> Bernie Schaeffer on the pump: http://www.sir-inc.com/schaeffer/bernie ... sp?ID=4074
[01:08] <codeblue> do most folks have their stocks in taxable accounts?
[01:09] <codeblue> I don't think so
[01:09] <incognito> I have both
[01:11] <codeblue> Bernie sounds a little negative there, doesn't he?
[01:11] <incognito> a bit
[01:11] <incognito> I like his slant
[01:12] <incognito> upgrades get sold, downgrades get bought, no one paying attention anymore to the Wall Street analysts
[01:12] <incognito> now CEOs in the game
[01:12] <incognito> and its not working
[01:13] <LiT-LadY> http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/2001091 ... ss_dc.html
[01:15] <codeblue> if bull markets climb a wall of wory, what do bear markets do?
[01:15] <codeblue> fall down the stairs of optimism?
[01:15] <pttrdr> stroll down memory lane
[01:15] <incognito> lol
[01:16] <incognito> just give me 2 bux in the QQQs and I will be happy
[01:16] <codeblue> analyst in front of microphone: "tap, tap, tap ... is this thing on?"

[01:43] <Cassandra> While necessity may be the mother of invention, don't underestimate people's desire for products that are maintenance-free. Disposable products fill that niche in modern society. In the interest of saving time and money, inventors have given us many disposable products, including ball point pens, razors, diapers, cameras and cigarette lighters. By the end of 2001, you will be able to add cell phones to the plethora of products that can be used
[01:43] <Cassandra> At least three companies are developing independent versions of a disposable cell phone. The first of these talk-and-toss phones could be on the market by October 2001. These phones will be stripped down versions of their high-priced counterparts, and will cost $10 to $30 for about an hour of talk time. The phones are designed to target the 60 percent of Americans who still don't own a mobile phone.
[01:43] <Cassandra> 60%? how do they function?
[01:44] <Cassandra> Talking Through Paper
[01:44] <Cassandra> It's no surprise that one of the people who has invented a disposable cell phone is a toy designer. Randi Altschul, of Dieceland Technologies, has developed a credit-card-sized, paper cell phone. It's designed to be bought, used and thrown away. The 2-by-3-inch (5.08 by 7.62 cm) phone is made by printing cell-phone circuitry onto a paper substrate, which is then sealed and laminated.
[01:45] <Cassandra> If you were to crack open a conventional cell phone, you would find a circuit board and other components, such as a speaker and microphone. All of the circuits are made of tiny metallic wires that connect the various microprocessors, the speaker and the microphone. Dieceland's disposable cell phone has basically the same configuration, except metallic inks are used in place of wires. This ink is printed onto the substrate, and then other compo
[01:45] <Cassandra> Part of the idea behind the disposable cell phone is to make the manufacturing of cell phones cheap and easy. The manufacturing process described in the U.S. patent issued to Altschul is remarkably simple. Let's take a look at the components of the Dieceland Phone-Card Phone:
[01:46] <Cassandra> Paper substrate - Dieceland had originally planned to use a synthetic polymeric material like Mylar, but the company has since developed a more practical paper substrate. Similar to a printing press, rolls of this material are fed into a machine and the material winds through a series of stations, each station adding a component to the substrate.
[01:46] <Cassandra> Circuit lines - Metallic inks are printed onto the substrate to create the circuits, conductors and other components. The circuit line is similar to the circuit board of a conventional cell phone, only the circuits are printed over a larger area.
[01:47] <Cassandra> Non-printed components - Not all of the phone's components can be printed, so they are added at a separate station. These components, which include thin crystals and capacitors, are placed in a cavity that is formed in the body of the telephone. Other surface components, including the keypad, are fixed to the substrate.
[01:47] <Cassandra> Graphics - As the material moves through the assembly machine, various graphics are printed onto the substrate. These graphics include the keyboard numbers and various decorative designs. Kids could have a disposable cell phone with their favorite cartoon characters or Hollywood stars printed on it. Sports fans might want their favorite teams printed on the phone.
[01:47] <Cassandra> Adhesive - The components are placed on one side of the substrate, and an adhesive is placed on the opposite side. Once the adhesive is applied to the back of the substrate, it is sent to a station that folds the substrate on top of itself.
[01:47] <Cassandra> Once the material has been folded, it is compressed to create a semi-rigid structure that is about as thick as three credit cards. At this point, a sheath of synthetic polymeric material is placed over the structure to seal and complete the phone body. This sheath includes an opening for a port, where a headset can be plugged into the phone. A small AAA battery attaches to one end.
[01:48] <Cassandra> Dieceland Technologies is still developing the phone, and has said it will cost about $10 for one hour of talk time. Recently, the company signed a distribution deal with General Electric, which will distribute the phones in North America.
[01:48] * Cassandra hums.. GE.. we bring good things to life..
[01:49] <Cassandra> Hop-On's Recyclable Phone
[01:49] <Cassandra> If you were to look at Dieceland's phone and the phone developed by Hop-On Wireless, you wouldn't see much of a difference at first glance. However, the Hop-On phone is made from plastic. The small, credit-card-sized phone is 2.25 inches (5.72 cm) wide, 4.25 inches (10.8 cm) tall and 0.4 inches (1.02 cm) thick. Like the Phone-Card phone, it also lacks a display.
[01:49] <Cassandra> The Hop-On phone, like all of the disposable phones, will be restricted to outgoing, domestic calls only at first. (All three companies developing these phones have said they will eventually make a phone that allows for incoming calls as well.) The phone (with one hour of talk time) is expected to cost $30.
[01:50] <Cassandra> The phone consists of a simple, two-button keypad. One button starts the call and the other ends it. To make a call, the user will simply say the phone number to be called. When the minutes are all used up, the phone can be returned to the place where it was bought for recycling and a deposit refund. The used phones are collected and sent to Hop-On, which will melt the cases down and recast new phones.
[01:50] <Cassandra> The phone operates in Global System for Mobile communications (GSM), code division multiple access (CDMA) and time division multiple access (TDMA) protocols. It features an internal antenna, a hands-free ear piece and a microphone jack. Hop-On has said its phone will be ready for distribution in October 2001.
[01:51] <Cassandra> The Semi-Disposable Phone
[01:51] <Cassandra> If you are looking for something a little more permanent, but still cheap, you may opt for the Telespree phone, which is only partially disposable. Consumers who use the Telespree phone will keep the phone's handset, while periodically replacing the disposable battery pack. Telespree describes its product as "Over-the-Counter Wireless," as opposed to "disposable."
[01:51] <Cassandra> The Telespree phone has two basic parts:
[01:51] <Cassandra> Handset - This is the hard-plastic casing, equipped with a single button to make calls with.
[01:51] <Cassandra> AirClip - This component is the disposable portion of the phone. It contains the battery and keeps track of available minutes. The AirClip snaps into the phone and is thrown away after a set number of minutes has been used.
[01:51] <Cassandra> To use the phone, users simply snap a Telespree disposable AirClip onto the back of their handset. AirClips will be available with 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes of use. To dial a number, users push the single button on the handset and say the phone number they want to call. Once the minutes on the AirClip are used up, users can dispose of the old clip and buy a new one.
[01:52] <Cassandra> When a call is made, a recorded reminder will inform the user of how many minutes remain on the AirClip. Initially, Telespree will offer phones with outgoing calls only. New versions that allow incoming calls will be available in the next year.
[01:52] <Cassandra> Telespree plans to release its phone in early 2002. The phone will cost about $30 at the time of purchase and will come with 30 minutes of talk time. As the initial AirClip runs out, users can opt to buy more minutes at a cost of about 30 to 50 cents per minute.

[00:16] <prttrdr> clinton did
[00:17] <prttrdr> this girl on letterman is good
[00:17] <codeblue> yeah the prob. is that banks by their nature are leveraged, so a small hit in terms of defaults and stuff can be a big hit to reserves and the bottom line
[00:18] <Cassandra> hey guys
[00:18] <Cassandra> in short
[00:18] <codeblue> who's the girl (TV off at the moment)

[00:22] <Cassandra> LOL
[00:22] <pttrdr> lol
[00:23] <pttrdr> when PIPR gets weak on that flying porker lcbm i am going to powe slamma jamma short that sucker

[00:24] <Cassandra> he has a family to feed as well, be nice
[00:24] <codeblue> ICBM - no such symbol

[01:11] <incognito> a bit

The group would therefore benefit from the growing online advertising market next year, he said, but didn't elaborate.
