Crude supplies up 2.4M barrels in latest week: DoE ( 10:37am
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. crude supplies rose by 2.4 million barrels in the latest week, according to the Department of Energy. U.S. gasoline inventories fell by 2.1 million barrels, although they remain above the average range, the DoE said.
Distillate supplies rose by 0.7 million barrles, but remain in the lower half of the average range for the time of year, it said.
The crude build was lower than Platts was expecting, while the gasoline drawdown was bigger than expected.
May crude futures were last down 24 cents, or 0.5%, at $55.80, off their intraday low of $55.30.
May unleaded gasoline was down 0.9% at $1.6725 a gallon.
