"Stocks Ride This Ramp to Higher Strikes"

"Nice ramp, really nice. Stocks still going past strikes. That could mean that the power is still with the bulls as stocks that break away 2 or 3 points actually might gravitate toward the higher strikes.
Take Lennar (LEN:NYSE - commentary - research), that could be the precursor. It says that Best Buy (BBY:NYSE - commentary - research) could go to $55, that BP (BP:NYSE - commentary - research) could go to $50. Or take the classic tell of ChevronTexaco (CVX:NYSE - commentary - research), a wildly manipulated expiration week stock breaking out to $85. Could 3M (MMM:NYSE - commentary - research) be far behind?
My take: We aren't through with the upside, not till all the big dogs get trapped by the next higher strike.
This is a truly remarkable market where everything is working.
Except ne'er-do-well Colgate (CL:NYSE - commentary - research), of course. "

"It's tough to game expiration. But you've heard me say that a gazillion times. Periodically, though, there are patterns.
I follow dozens of stocks like a hawk chasing vermin and I have seen this pattern rarely: Big-cap stocks all trading to the north of strikes. That's what makes me feel that the next couple of days could be good ones.
And who can destroy that pattern? Goldman Sachs (GS:NYSE - commentary - research)? I don't think so; lots of expectations, but I don't expect too much trouble beating the number. Morgan Stanley (MWD:NYSE - commentary - research)? Not this Morgan Stanley; it's better than it has been. Nike (NKE:NYSE - commentary - research)? I think not.
And with the stains of Best Buy (BBY:NYSE - commentary - research) and Lennar (LEN:NYSE - commentary - research) washed out of the collars of traders, I like the way we are positioned.
Traders: Stay long. "
