U.S. Nov. retail sales rebound 0.9%
WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) - Auto sales rebounded in November, helping to propel U.S. retail sales higher by 0.9 percent in November, the Commerce Department said Thursday.
Excluding the 2.6 percent jump in auto sales, retail sales rose 0.4 percent.
November's increase met economists' expectations. It was the fastest growth since August's 1 percent gain.
October's sales were revised higher to unchanged from a 0.3 percent drop.
Sales were strong in November in many retail sectors.
Durable goods were particularly good. Nondurable goods were mixed.
Clothing, health-care and gasoline sales were all up more than 1 percent.
