Inúmeros Povos e Civilizações têm essa maneira de demostrar o seu carinho e amor pelo próximo.

Aliás mesmo cá em Portugal conheço muitos pais que beijam os filhos na boca... e posso garantir-lhe que não são homossexuais...

Não estou a querer dizer que não existam homossexuais no Irão, consequentemente ele esteja a falar verdade, mas acho que é abusivo utilizar essas imagens como prova disso...

La explosión se produjo a las las 09:00 horas de hoy (hora española) cerca de Shewan, al noroeste de Farah, en la provincia de Herat, cuando el convoy de cinco vehículos, pertenecientes a la Fuerza de Reacción Rápida española de la base de Herat, volvían a la base después de revisar la carreta 517 de Afganistán, para liberarla de la "presión" de los talibanes.

Por su parte los talibanes han asumido la autoría del ataque a través de su portavoz, Zabiullah Mujahid, que ha elevado los fallecido a cinco: "Nuestros mujahidines hicieron estallar dos vehículos de soldados de la OTAN esta mañana en (el distrito de) Shewan en Farah, mataron a cinco e hirieron a otros siete", ha asegurado Mujahid. Este extremo no ha sido confirmado por el ministro Alonso durante la rueda de prensa.

Snatched: Israeli commandos ‘nuclear’ raid

ISRAELI commandos from the elite Sayeret Matkal unit – almost certainly dressed in Syrian uniforms – made their way stealthily towards a secret military compound near Dayr az-Zawr in northern Syria. They were looking for proof that Syria and North Korea were collaborating on a nuclear programme.

Israel had been surveying the site for months, according to Washington and Israeli sources. President George W Bush was told during the summer that Israeli intelligence suggested North Korean personnel and nuclear-related material were at the Syrian site.

Israel was determined not to take any chances with its neighbour. Following the example set by its raid on an Iraqi nuclear reactor at Osirak 1981, it drew up plans to bomb the Syrian compound.

But Washington was not satisfied. It demanded clear evidence of nuclear-related activities before giving the operation its blessing. The task of the commandos was to provide it.

Today the site near Dayr az-Zawr lies in ruins after it was pounded by Israeli F15Is on September 6. Before the Israelis issued the order to strike, the commandos had secretly seized samples of nuclear material and taken them back into Israel for examination by scientists, the sources say. A laboratory confirmed that the unspecified material was North Korean in origin. America approved an attack.

The operation was personally directed by Ehud Barak, the Israeli defence minister, who is said to have been largely preoccupied with it since taking up his post on June 18.

It was the ideal mission for Barak, Israel’s most decorated soldier and legendary former commander of the Sayeret Matkal, which shares the motto “Who Dares Wins” with Britain’s SAS and specialises in intelligence-gathering deep behind enemy lines.

Diplomats in North Korea and China said they believed a number of North Koreans were killed in the raid, noting that ballistic missile technicians and military scientists had been working for some time with the Syrians.

A senior Syrian official, Sayeed Elias Daoud, director of the Syrian Arab Ba’ath party, flew to North Korea via Beijing last Thursday, reinforcing the belief among foreign diplomats that the two nations are coordinating their response to the Israeli strike.

The growing assumption that North Korea suffered direct casualties in the raid appears to be based largely on the regime’s unusually strident propaganda on an issue far from home. But there were also indications of conversations between Chinese and North Korean officials and intelligence reports reaching Asian governments that supported the same conclusion, diplomats said.

The unusual silence about the airstrikes amazed Israelis, who are used to talkative politicians. But it did not surprise the defence community. “Most Israeli special operations remain unknown,” said a defence source.

But details of the raid are still tantalisingly incomplete. Some analysts in America are perplexed by photographs of a fuel tank said to have been dropped from an Israeli jet on its return journey over Turkey. It appears to be relatively undamaged. Could it have been planted to sow confusion about the route taken by the Israeli F-15I pilots?

More importantly, questions remain about the precise nature of the material seized and about Syria’s intentions. Was Syria hiding North Korean nuclear equipment while Pyongyang prepared for six-party talks aimed at securing an end to its nuclear weapons programme in return for security guarantees and aid? Did Syria want to arm its own Scuds with a nuclear device?

Or could the material have been destined for Iran as John Bolton, the former US ambassador to the United Nations, has suggested? And just how deep is Syrian and North Korean nuclear cooperation anyway?

Most diplomats and experts dismiss the idea that Syria could master the technical and industrial knowhow to make its own nuclear devices. The vital question is whether North Korea could have transferred some of its estimated 55 kilos of weapons-grade plutonium to Syria. Six to eight kilos are enough for one rudimentary bomb.

The Israeli army has so far declined to comment on the attack. However, several days afterwards, at a gathering marking the Jewish new year, the commander-in-chief of the Israeli military shook hands with and congratulated his generals. The scene was broadcast on Israeli television. After the fiasco in Lebanon last year, it was regarded as a sign that “we’re back in business, guys”.

Uma vitória estratégica

A guerra de civilizações, que a "inteligência" ocidental persiste em pretender que não existe, entrou numa nova fase. Anteontem, o número 2 da Al-Qaeda, al-Zawahiri, proclamou que a "mais poderosa potência da humanidade está a ser derrotada pelas vanguardas muçulmanas da jihad" no Iraque e no Afeganistão. E está. Do Iraque, não vale a pena falar. No Afeganistão, de que pouco se fala, os produtores de ópio continuam a mandar e os taliban empurraram as forças da "Europa" e da América para uma posição mais do que precária. Pior ainda, a opinião pública já dá toda a aventura por perdida e só pensa em acabar com ela. O sucessor de Bush terá, tarde ou cedo, de sair do Iraque e, sem o Iraque, a presença de uns milhares de soldados no Afeganistão não serve de nada.

Esta vitória, uma vitória estratégica e não simplesmente táctica, fez passar a Al-Qaeda, como, de resto, é clássico, da defensiva para a ofensiva. Em primeiro lugar, contra o Paquistão, a única potência nuclear islâmica. Anteontem, solenemente, Bin Laden "declarou guerra" ao general Musharraf e ao "exército apóstata" que ele comanda. Vinda de um homem que vive escondido numa caverna, a declaração parece ridícula. Não é. Musharraf representa a odiada aliança americana, Bin Laden o ódio absoluto ao infiel; e a popularidade de Bin Laden excede hoje, no próprio Paquistão, a popularidade de Musharraf. Em véspera de eleições, o anátema da Al-Qaeda "marca" o general e talvez consiga impedir a formação de um Governo suficientemente forte para apoiar a América.

Depois do Paquistão, a Al-Qaeda também quer o Magrebe "limpo dos filhos da Espanha e da França". Não há, neste momento, muitos filhos da Espanha e da França no Magrebe, mas mesmo esses não são toleráveis para al-Zawahiri. Nem os filhos, por assim dizer, espirituais do Ocidente, que sustentam o Estado "laico" ou "semilaico", na Líbia, na Tunísia, na Argélia e em Marrocos. Contra esses, guerra santa. E guerra santa, enfim, contra os presentes proprietários do al-Andalus, por outras palavras, contra Portugal e a Espanha. Quem achar isto retórica, que se lembre de Madrid em 2004. Os políticos que se dedicam a louvar e a mimar os "moderados" do islão não percebem uma realidade básica: o extremismo é o único caminho para uma civilização falhada e o extremismo ganha.

Israelis seized nuclear material in Syrian raid

Israeli commandos seized nuclear material of North Korean origin during a daring raid on a secret military site in Syria before Israel bombed it this month, according to informed sources in Washington and Jerusalem.

The attack was launched with American approval on September 6 after Washington was shown evidence the material was nuclear related, the well-placed sources say.

They confirmed that samples taken from Syria for testing had been identified as North Korean. This raised fears that Syria might have joined North Korea and Iran in seeking to acquire nuclear weapons.

Israeli special forces had been gathering intelligence for several months in Syria, according to Israeli sources. They located the nuclear material at a compound near Dayr az-Zwar in the north.

Evidence that North Korean personnel were at the site is said to have been shared with President George W Bush over the summer. A senior American source said the administration sought proof of nuclear-related activities before giving the attack its blessing.

Diplomats in North Korea and China believe a number of North Koreans were killed in the strike, based on reports reaching Asian governments about conversations between Chinese and North Korean officials.

Syrian officials flew to Pyongyang, the North Korean capital, last week, reinforcing the view that the two nations were coordinating their response.

Irão testa novos jactos de guerra e diz assustar inimigos

O Irão considerou hoje que «assustou os seus inimigos», ao testar com sucesso dois aviões de uma nova geração de jactos fabricados no país, afirmando que, com isso, dá provas de estar pronto para o combate.

O ministro de Defesa do Irão, Mostafa Mohammad Najjar, disse a um canal público de televisão que especialistas do Ministério e da Força Aérea são os responsáveis pelo projecto, pela pesquisa e pela produção do jacto de guerra Saegheh.

«Dois jactos Saegheh foram testados com sucesso pelos pilotos da Força Aérea. O teste assustou os inimigos do Irão», disse Najjar, acrescentando que os dois jactos ingressarão oficialmente na esquadrilha de aviões de guerra do Irão no sábado.

França quer medidas europeias contra Irão além de sanções ONU

A França deseja que todos os seus parceiros da União Europeia adoptem «medidas adicionais» às sanções da ONU para pressionar o Irão a recuar e suspender o seu programa de enriquecimento de urânio, anunciou hoje o Eliseu.

Tratar-se-ia de «recomendações» às empresas dos países da UE para não fazerem contratos com o Irão e às instituições financeiras para reduzirem os seus investimentos no país, explicou o porta-voz do Eliseu, David Martinon, na conferência de imprensa semanal.

Precisou que não seria necessário um «texto comum» da UE para tal e afirmou que outros países, que não quis identificar, partilham a posição da França a favor da iniciativa.

«Ninguém acredita» que o programa de enriquecimento de urânio do Irão «seja pacífico», assegurou o porta-voz do presidente Nicolas Sarkozy.

O chefe de Estado francês abordará a crise nuclear iraniana na sua visita a Nova Iorque no início da próxima semana para a Assembleia Geral da ONU.

Martinon insistiu que para a França é «inaceitável um Irão dotado da arma nuclear», como referiu Sarkozy no final de Agosto, num discurso perante os embaixadores franceses, quando alertou para «uma alternativa catastrófica: a bomba iraniana ou o bombardeamento do Irão».

Contra isso, apostava na actual política de «sanções progressivas» contra Teerão, mas também de «abertura» se o regime islâmico recuar e suspender o enriquecimento de urânio.

Sarkozy deseja evitar a referida «alternativa catastrófica» e aposta numa «solução política», disse Martinon, na esteira da polémica suscitada pela referência a uma possível «guerra», feita pelo ministro dos Negócios Estrangeiros francês, Bernard Kouchner, para que o Irão não obtenha a bomba.

Kouchner, que viajou quarta-feira para os Estados Unidos, tem-se esforçado desde então para suavizar aquelas palavras, que diz que foram mal interpretadas e «retiradas do contexto».

Perante a recusa de Teerão de suspender o enriquecimento de urânio, o Conselho de Segurança das Nações Unidas aprovou já duas resoluções com sanções e analisa-se agora uma terceira «visando reforçar o regime de sanções», disse Martinon.

Mas são negociações muito difíceis e complexas, que se podem prolongar.

Por isso, «pensamos em medidas adicionais», explicou, referindo-se às que Paris deseja que tomem «todos» os países europeus.

Wednesday, Sept 19, the day Condoleezza Rice arrived for talks with Israeli and Palestinian leaders, a car bomb in East Beirut killed lawmaker Antoine Ghanem, further reducing the anti-Syrian majority in parliament six days ahead of its election of a new Lebanese president. Bashar Assad was signaling that he was not deterred from his policies by the Israeli air attack of Sept 6 and would not let American influence displace his grip on Beirut.

DEBKAfile’s counter-terror sources note Syria’s fingerprints all over the assassination of Antoine Ghanem, 64, the 8th anti-Syrian MP to be murdered in two years. Two days earlier, this member of the Christian Phalangist party returned secretly from Abu Dhabi. He had been in hiding after being threatened with death should he run for election. On his return, he told his friends the Syrians and their Lebanese supporters were after him to whittle down parliamentary support for an anti-Syrian president.

The tip-off on his return to Beirut must have come from a regional intelligence service with spies in the oil emirate. That, plus the method and speed with which the plot was assembled, point to Damascus’ experienced hand. The bomb car loaded with 40 kilos of explosives perfectly tallied with the means used to assassinate another anti-Syrian lawmaker, Walid Eido, on July 14.

Syria was bluntly accused of the crime by leader of the 14 March majority Saad Hariri, whose father was blown up in February 2005, and Druze leader Walid Jumblat, whose father also died at Syrian hands in the 70s, when Bashar Assad’s father Hafez was Syrian president.

The US secretary of state did not have an easy ride in her effort to inject substance into President Bush’s international conference in Washington two months hence. Israeli leaders made a show of goodwill - Ehud Olmert’s close adviser Haim Ramon even conjured up a largely unfeasible plan to transfer parts of Jerusalem to the Palestinians – but by and large Israel prefers declarations to deeds. Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, for his part, said that without substantial progress towards establishing a Palestinian state, there is no point in him attending.

Without the Palestinians and the Saudis, the conference is a non-starter.

In other areas, Rice’s arrival found Israel on the move:

1. The security cabinet declared the Gaza Strip a hostile territory controlled by a hostile force, Hamas. While this decision could pave the way for Israel to cut off electricity, water and other services to Gaza - if the Qassam missiles continue to fly against Israeli populated areas in the Negev, which has not yet been decided – it also cuts Abbas off from possible steps to restore his dialogue with Hamas.

He was roundly condemned as an irresponsible blabbermouth.

Rice may have set out on her journey meaning to promote Middle East peace diplomacy. What she found was a climate of confrontation, animosity and war tension.

Bin Laden urges uprising against Musharraf

Osama bin Laden today called on Pakistanis to "rebel against the apostate" Pervez Musharraf in a video message posted on the internet.

The footage, on an islamist militant website, featured the al-Qaida leader's voice over previously released footage of him.

In what was the third message from Bin Laden this month, he described Gen Musharraf as an infidel, condemning the president's closeness to the US.

He said the decision to send the military into the Red mosque in Islamabad in July had "demonstrated Musharraf's insistence on continuing his loyalty, submissiveness and aid to America against the Muslims ... and makes armed rebellion against him and removing him obligatory".

The message added: "So when the capability is there, it is obligatory to rebel against the apostate ruler, as is the case now," according to a transcript of the tape released by Laura Mansfield, a US expert on terrorism who monitors militant messages.

The fighting at the Red mosque left at least 102 people - including Abdul Rashid Ghazi, one of the militant leaders - dead.

Bin Laden said Ghazi and his followers had been killed for seeking the application of Sharia Islamic law.

"So Pervez, his ministers, his soldiers and those who help him are all accomplices in the spilling the blood of those of the Muslims who have been killed," he said.

"He who helps him knowingly and willingly is an infidel like him."

In a video posted on the same website earlier, Bin Laden's deputy, Ayman al-Zawahri, said the US was losing battles in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as on other fronts.

The 80-minute video message also condemned the Pakistani military over the Red mosque.

"Let the Pakistani army know that the killing of Abdul Rashid Ghazi and his male and female students ... has soaked the history of the Pakistan army in shame and despicableness which can only washed away by retaliation," he said.

Zawahri called for attacks on French and Spanish interests in north Africa and on the UN and African peacekeepers due to be deployed in Darfur.
