"Sell Hopeful Moments to Buy Lower, Later"

"Futures are up. Guys are taking the QQQs (QQQ:Amex - news - commentary - research - analysis). Europe looks strong. Looks like another hope-dashing rally ahead of us!

Yeah, I think we have to accept the fact that we haven't had our washout yet, that we can still come in and get these moves up in the futures based on nothing. Therefore, any attempt to move up here simply has to be sold, for the traders among you.

These days, I genuinely cheer the downside. I want things to get so washed out that even the bears don't want to sell anymore -- and make no mistake about it, the bears in this tape are long, hoping to catch a rally to sell into off the war. What I can't stand are these rallies that sucker people in and then lose people so much money. They have only one mission, these rallies: to decimate hope and increase pessimism. They are doing a remarkable job of it, too!

Once again, the goal in Iraq isn't removing the weapons of mass destruction, it's changing the regime. The weapons of mass destruction cover theme works well, but it was meant to make it so the world would see it our way -- and it isn't. C'est la vie; we are going in with the coalition of the willing. That will become clear again probably by Wednesday, and would become clear today except today is "Happy Day" with the Federal Reserve chairman on the Hill saying that deficits don't matter because we need the spending to revive the economy but, by the way, the economy is on track and terrific.

Yes, the chairman has gone from being an obfuscating canny devil to being a public relations man for whatever the president wants. How painful to see that act unfolding so badly.

So, get ready for a good morning as Alan Greenspan says all is fabu and the U-2s get to continue the charade of not finding weapons.

Just don't forget to sell. We aren't at the exquisite moment yet. We're in for more pain, more confusion and more ugliness, all of which should be bought when we get them. If you are like me with my Action Alerts PLUS portfolio, you need to do some selling so you can buy later and lower.

That's the plan. "
