ALSTOM, SIEMENS E BOMBARDIER COMPETEM NA HUNGRIA
Oct. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Siemens AG, Alstom SA, Bombardier
Inc. and Stadler-Rail AG are competing to supply 40 billion
forint ($206 million) worth of new trains to Hungary's state
rail company, the daily Vilaggazdasag reported, without citing
where it got the information.
Magyar Allamvasutak Rt., or Mav, had asked for offers for
30 suburban motorized railcars by Sept. 15, the paper said. The
company wants the four-section, air-conditioned railcars, with a
maximum speed of at least 120 kilometers (75 miles) an hour to
start running in early 2006.
Siemens last year beat Alstom and Bombardier in a bid to
supply 37 billion forint worth of new trams to Budapest, the
largest city in the 10 new European Union countries. Mav earlier
this month borrowed 52.8 billion forint from a group of banks
including BNP Paribas SA and ING Groep NV.
