Eua , Market Update...Ponto demasiado importante
Market Update (Yahoo!)
Close: Much of today's session was spent in negative territory, with the Nasdaq spearheading the decline in a sell-the-news reaction to a better than expected earnings report from Cisco (CSCO 24.12 -2.29), which reported Q2 EPS of $0.18, a penny above the consensus, and guided Q3 revenues above the consensus... The CEO's commentary on the conference call, though, was not to the market's liking, as it was deemed not bullish enough...
Briefing.com, for its part, thought CSCO's report was much better than today's 8.7% decline in the stock would imply (please see the Story Stock for more perspective) and thinks the pullback in the Nasdaq was simple profit-taking on the heels of the market's advance over the past 11 months, reflective of participants' nervousness at these levels... Briefing.com, for its part, maintains its longer-term moderately bullish stance and believes long-term investors should maintain exposure to the stock market in a conservative fashion, as 2004 is likely to be another winning year for the stock market, which continues to be supported by historically-low interest rates...
This is not to say that February has to be a winning month, though, and the Nasdaq's close below its 50-day simple (2017) and exponential (2029) moving averages, which in turn pressured the broader market, may act as a notable resistance level in tomorrow's session and should be closely-watched for indications on near-term sentiment...
