NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- New Century Financial Corp.'s (NEW : 3.87, -1.29, -25.0%) next filing will likely be a bankruptcy document after creditors forced the beleaguered subprime lender to stop making new loans, Merrill Lynch said in a note to clients Friday. Merrill, which reiterated its sell rating on the stock, said "the fatal liquidity blow may have arrived," for the company. While an emergency line of credit and a refinancing line are a positive, the company "has yet to obtain necessary covenant waivers from five lenders and its ability to fund new loans is in grave jeaopardy of another lender bowing out," Merrill said.
