API reports fall in crude, gasoline supplies

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- The American Petroleum Institute said crude supplies fell 1.7 million barrels for the week ended Nov. 17. The Energy Department had reported a rise of 5.1 million.
Motor gasoline supplies were down 766,000 barrels, the API said, in contrast to the 1.4 million-barrel rise reported by the government.
Distillate stocks declined by 1.4 million barrels, the API said. The Energy Department had reported a fall of 1.2 million barrels
