Needham upgrades HLIT to Buy from Hold with a $12 tgt saying with the stock's price down almost 20% and the selling pressure seemingly subsided, they feel compelled to look at the positives of the HLIT story, which they believe are: A growing likelihood of an supply agreement with DirecTV (DTV) for HDTV encoding equipment; The nearcertainty of HLIT's active participation in AT&T's (T) I.P.T.V U-verse rollouts; The attractiveness of HLIT as a potential acquisition target by a major global equipment supplier in a consolidating telco-cable broadband market; A valuation that's no longer inconsistent with its immediate peer group.
