SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- The Energy Department said crude supplies rose for a third week in a row, up 5.1 million barrels to 335.6 million for the week ended Oct. 13. But motor gasoline supplies fell for the first time in nine weeks, down 5.2 million barrels to 210.2 million. Distillate inventories stocks fell by 4.5 million barrels to total 145.4 million barrels. Following the news, November crude rose 22 cents to $59.15 a barrel. November unleaded gas added 2.17 cents to $1.485 a gallon and November heating oil was at $1.755 a gallon, up 2.12 cents.


SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- The American Petroleum Institute said crude supplies rose 8 million barrels for the week ended Oct. 13. The Energy Department had reported a climb of 5.1 million barrels. Motor gasoline supplies inventories were down 6.1 million barrels, the API said, vs. the 5.2 million-barrel fall reported by the government. Distillate stocks fell 2.6 million barrels, the API said. The Energy Department had reported a fall of 4.5 million barrels.
