Realmente andava de olho dela à algum tempo, hoje não prestei grande atenção e perdi o momento mas estava-se mesmo a ver. Pode ser que continue amanhã estas quebras de LTD de longo prazo normalmente dão 2,3 dias de boas subidas.

PARIS (AP) -- Restructuring costs and lower sales have pushed telecoms equipment maker Alcatel-Lucent into a third-quarter loss.

Alcatel-Lucent says Friday it lost €146 million ($188 million) in the July-September quarter. That's down from a €194 million profit in the same quarter a year earlier. Sales also slid 2.8 percent to €3.6 billion.

Alcatel-Lucent supplies telecommunication carriers such as AT&T, Verizon and France Telecom. It competes with European rivals such as LM Ericsson AB of Sweden and Nokia Siemens Networks of Finland.

But it has struggled to turn a profit since the 2006 merger of France's Alcatel and Lucent of the United States. Rounds of cost-cutting helped it make 2011 its first full-year profit since the tie-up.

Enhanced communications technology at new Donggi-Senoro LNGplant will ensure safe, secure and efficient operations

Paris/Tokyo,October 23 , 2012 - Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) is to provide global engineering contractor JGC Corporation and its subsidiary, PT JGC Indonesia, with advanced communications technology for a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant they are constructing in Indonesia for PT Donggi-Senoro LNG (DSLNG).

Alcatel-Lucent's provision of a fully integrated communications and security system will enhance the safety and security of workers at the plant, while at the same time improving operational efficiency through the application of state-of-the-art data networks.

DSLNG provides an opportunity to develop gas reserves that have been stranded for many decades. Indonesia's national energy company PT Pertamina (Persero) and PT Medco Energi Internasional, Tbk., together with international companies, namely Mitsubishi Corporation and Korea Gas Corporation, took the initiative to develop those gas reserves. The high-bandwidth communications network will support real-time delivery of essential system performance data, including management and notification of potential issues, providing the company all the information it needs to remotely monitor and maintain the plant.

Donggi-Senoro is the fourth LNG complex in Indonesia and production will begin in the fourth quarter 2014. The plant will receive feed gas from the gas fields of Senoro-Toili and Matindok in the region and deliver LNG to Japanese Power companies Chubu Electric and Kyushu Electric as well as Korea Gas Corporation.

California State University system upgrades state-wide infrastructure covering more than 20 sites to meet the latest educational and business needs for information access


Paris, France/Long Beach, CA, October 22, 2012 - California State University - CSU - the largest four year university system in the United States, is to transform its information infrastructure used by almost 430,000 students and 44,000 faculty and staff in 23 campuses by selecting Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) to provide the IT network.

With campuses covering the length of California from San Diego in the south to Humboldt in the north, CSU is an extremely diverse university system. Supporting its Access to Excellence plan, CSU campuses will operate on the same standardized local area network equipment from Alcatel-Lucent for the next eight years.

The migration to the advanced, new high-speed network will also enable CSU to add cloud computing technology in the future, serving its communities more efficiently and at lower costs. In its IT specification, CSU emphasizes standards compliance-based networking and broad features to meet specific educational and business requirements, along with security, availability, and performance. These requirements will also enable a future move to cloud, optimizing how CSU stores, manages and deliver its data across campus and beyond.

Educators are leading the charge towards dynamic use of cloud resources. Davidoff added, "We expect to gain significant operational efficiencies with this Alcatel-Lucent infrastructure that will also open doors to the future with its flexibility. We can easily evolve the network to provide more advanced services in the future with minimal investment, such as linking kiosk technology or security. And as a result, we expect to avoid considerable costs over the next eight years."

Along with cost avoidance of equipment spending, CSU expects to experience 'green' savings in the range of millions of dollars over the eight-year agreement by deploying Alcatel-Lucent's highly energy-efficient OmniSwitch product line.

It is anticipated that four campuses will be completely upgraded to Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch products over the next year. The overall project is estimated to be worth $22 million over the next eight years.

ALCATEL-LUCENT : Starts Steep Cost Cuts

PARIS--Telecommunications equipment-maker Alcatel-Lucent (ALU) said Thursday it plans to cut nearly 5,500 jobs globally, as the struggling company begins to implement steep cost cuts intended to help it return to profitability.

At a meeting of Europe-wide union representatives Thursday, Alcatel-Lucent executives outlined new details of a broader restructuring plan the company first announced in July that aims to cut 1.25 billion euros ($1.64 billion) in costs by the end of 2013.

As part of the plan, the company said it plans to slash 5,490 jobs worldwide, including 3,300 in Europe, Middle East and Africa, union officials and an Alcatel-Lucent spokesman said.

The worldwide cuts would amount to 7.2% of Alcatel-Lucent's worldwide workforce of 76,002 as of Dec. 31, 2011. But the ax will fall especially hard in France, where union officials said the company plans to eliminate 1,430 jobs, which would represent 15% of the company's workforce at the end of 2011, according to securities filings.

The cuts fall primarily in support functions like sales, marketing, finance and human resources, one union said in a statement, calling the cuts "a human and industrial catastrophe."

The cuts "reflect the focusing of the company's presence in some geographies, as well as the need to align our cost structure in all geographic and functional areas, with the exception of research and development," the Alcatel-Lucent spokesman said. "These are difficult decisions, but are necessary for the long-term health and sustainable profitability of the company," he added.

The job-cut details are the latest as the company looks to stem its cash-flow losses and return to profitability, amid a slowdown in spending by telecommunications companies in Europe and steep competition on costs that have cut margins. As part of its cuts, the company announced a reorganization in September that puts regional networks businesses together under one global executive and cut by nearly half the size of its executive committee.

In July, Alcatel-Lucent reported a net loss of EUR254 million and said it had burned through half a billion euros in cash in the second quarter of 2012. Its only guidance for 2012 was that the second half would show better margins than the first.

The company plans to announce its third-quarter earnings on Nov. 2.

Alcatel-Lucent's stock was up 5.1% at 1002 GMT at EUR0.84, as the broader CAC40 index slightly lower, down 0.1%.
