"Well, I'll be. Hedgies were prepping me for a big miss in Microsoft and a small miss in Intel.
Instead we got a small miss in 'Soft and a real ripper in Intel, a terrific quarter, one that I think should make people take the stock up to $18 and change or better, if it can break out of the 17.5 strike orb where I had expected it to be pinned if it didn't do anything exceptional.
No wonder Novellus had no negative clout!
I am already hearing the cognoscenti saying "Hold it, the numbers had been guided down so much, it doesn't matter."
Wrong!
The pattern in tech has been that companies have been unable to hit even the guided-down numbers. That's not the case with Intel, although it is the case with Microsoft.
More important, these were the two companies I was most worried about this week. With them past, I think you could continue to go ever higher with this market.
