"Cautious About Buying This Selloff"

"Let's face some facts. First of all, this is a terrible market. It's terrible because we have people worried about stagflation, which means that the cohort that might want to pay high for the outyears of earnings feels gun-shy.

I regard that as an opportunity, because I think we are in a deflationary environment. I get that because of the crunching of debt. That's inherently deflationary -- as is the decline in value of your home.

Second, we aren't yet close enough to year-end for managers to defend positions. That's too bad, because they give you a real stability.

Third, we aren't yet oversold by traditional measures, so you can't expect a bounce.

Finally it's options expiration week and the last expiration week was awful so people are very scared about what this one will bring.

That's a miserable recipe. It is what made me want to sell the rally this morning. It is what makes me cautious about buying this selloff now. "
