Prudential said time is now to buy General Electric (GE)
By Tomi Kilgore
NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Prudential said "the time to buy General Electric is now," as the company's energy business, which represents nearly one-fifth of sales, is expected to start rebounding in the fourth quarter and continue accelerating throughout 2005. Analyst Nicholas Heymann reiterated his "overweight" rating and $38 price target on the stock. He said the projected return to double-digit percentage earnings growth in 2005 for GE (GE) will be increasingly attractive relative to steadily slowing global economic growth. "Shares currently are widely market-weighted by most accounts but could become overweighted as extent and pace of energy business rebound becomes widely evident over next 4 to 6 months," Heymann said in a note to clients. The stock, a component of the Dow industrials, closed Thursday unchanged at $33.53.
