LAX terminals reopen after two security scares (UALAQ) By Rachel Koning
CHICAGO (CBS.MW) -- Four terminals at Los Angeles International Airport have been reopened after closings earlier Saturday after, in separate incidents, a passenger bypassed a security post and a flashlight battery exploded during a hand check of a passenger suitcase. The FBI said the incidents were not related, the Associated Press reported. A passenger apparently ran up a down escalator, leading to the evacuation of three terminals so that passengers could be re-screened. In the international terminal, the explosion did cause minor injuries to several people near the security check but was blamed on old batteries and was not believed to be a bomb. About 30 departing United Airlines (UALAQ) flights were listed as delayed, and 17 of the airline's inbound flights were listed as canceled or delayed, the AP said.
