We are still primarily out of the stock market, as we have
been for just about this entire bear market.

**********

Well here we are rapidly closing in on the end of the year.
I know I am getting older, because these years keep flying
by faster. It seems like January was only a few days ago...
and I can clearly remember so many people getting
enthusiastic about the market because they thought it
couldn't go down three years in a row.

Well, just to test my memory, I went back and looked at a
January issue of the Walker MarketEdge:

"from looking at the financial press, it would
seem that most everyone is quite bullish...seeming
to think that we can't possibly have a third
negative year in a row. And while we certainly
hope this sentiment is correct, there is
definitely a precedent for more than two
consecutive negative years. I guess the point is,
this is not the time to be making bets one way or
the other based on the premise of what type of
streak the market can or cannot put together."

Yup, all that bullishness based on the perceived odds of a
two year losing streak ending was just plain silliness. But
the sad thing is that there were plenty of people who put
there money into the market based on such silliness.

The market was not kind to anyone making that mistake. As of
the close on Thursday, the SP500 was down 23.0% for the
year, and the Nasdaq composite was down 30.6%.

And I am willing to bet that we will hear such silliness
again *this* year. After all, what are the odds that we will
have a *fourth* down year in a row? You might as well go
start buying tech stocks right now.

Just to be very clear... those last two sentences were full
of sarcasm.

There may be a time soon when we go back into stocks, but it
won't be based on something like the number of consecutive
down years we have had.

When it *IS* time to jump in *OR* out of the market, our
MarketEdge subscribers will hear about it first in a FLASH
UPDATE. If you upgrade to the MarketEdge, then you will get
this immediate update (along with all of our bonus issues
PLUS our mutual fund picks). You won't be left wondering
what to do if the market jumps higher OR lower. For more
