NEW YORK (CBS.MW) - Saboteurs have blown up a portion of an oil pipeline near Basra, oil minister Thamer Ghadban said, AFX News reported from Iraq.
"A pipeline south of Basra was targeted by saboteurs with explosives," Ghadban said. "It was certainly sabotage." There were no immediate official details concerning the extent of the damage, though a London trader said it appears the pipeline in question is currently the only major export channel for Iraqi oil.
The incident was at least the fourth attack on Iraq's oil pipelines in nine days.
