UMich consumer sentiment holds steady in May
WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- Consumer sentiment held steady in early May, researchers at the University of Michigan said Friday.
The consumer sentiment index remained at 94.2, the same level as reported in late April.
Economists had expected sentiment to improve in May.
The consensus forecast of Wall Street economists was for sentiment to rise to 95.9.
The current conditions index rose to 107.2 in May from 105.0 in April.
The expectations index fell to 85.8 in May from 87.3 in the previous month.
