U.S. weekly jobless claims fall 25,000
WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- Initial claims for state unemployment benefits fell by 25,000 to 315,000 in the week ended May 1, the Labor Department reported Thursday.
This is the lowest level since the week ended Oct. 28, 2000.

U.S. labor productivity up 3.5% in Q1

WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- Productivity in the U.S. non-farm business sector rose at a 3.5 percent annual rate in the first quarter, the Labor Department estimated Thursday.
The gain was in line with the consensus of Wall Street economists.
Output in the non-farm business sector rose 4.9 percent, while hours worked rose 1.3 percent and unit labor costs increased 0.5 percent.
