SILVERADO-Nolan Placer Gold Project Update-April 28, 2004

por Scubawarrior » 29/4/2004 11:01

Silverado Gold Mines Ltd. (OTCBB: SLGLF) provided an update today on
drilling activities at the Mary's Bench East deposit. The deposit is
located at the Nolan Gold Project in the Brooks Range, 280 road miles
north of Fairbanks, Alaska. Historic gold production from the Nolan
Valley prior to Silverado's property acquisition was about 120,000
ounces.

Under Silverado's ownership an additional 18,501 ounces of placer gold
have been produced. The Company's recent placer exploration efforts
have been focused on delineation of the Mary's Bench East deposit.
Mary's Bench East is a continuation of a northeasterly trend of bench
deposits that Silverado mined over the past 10 years (click link to see
map: http://www.silverado.com/maps/insert01.htm) (A bench is an old
watercourse uphill from the present creek).

The Company has just completed the drilling and analysis of 79 rotary
reverse circulation drill holes, 22 of which outline an S-shaped placer
gold deposit approximately 300 feet long by 50 feet wide (click link to
see map: http://www.silverado.com/maps/insert02.htm). These holes
yielded results ranging from 0 to 1.022 ounces gold per bedrock square
foot (oz/bsf), click the link to see a photo
(http://www.silverado.com/imagery/vial.htm) showing gold recovered from
Hole 15 (1.022 oz/bsf). The arithmetic average of these results is 0.06
oz/bsf, which compares favorably with past mining recoveries on the
benches at 0.04 - 0.05 oz/bsf. The gold-bearing gravels are located 30
to 50 feet below surface and are accessible to extraction by surface
mining.

Note on Sampling and Handling Procedures

The bench deposits consist of placer gold in frozen gravels. The
industry standard placer exploration technique consists of drilling
8-inch rotary reverse circulation holes and recovering the gravel as 5
foot samples, each weighing 100 to 200 pounds, depending on recovery.
The samples are processed at a laboratory on site using gravity
equipment to concentrate and recover the placer gold. The gold is
weighed and the ounces per cubic yard are calculated. The data from
each hole is then converted to ounces gold per bedrock square foot
(oz/bsf) for map preparation and deposit evaluation. The gold
recovered from each drill hole is stored in its own glass vial (click
link to see photo: http://www.silverado.com/imagery/vial.htm). All work
is conducted by experienced personnel under management of a qualified
engineer or geologist.

This procedure differs significantly from lode drilling where much
smaller samples are sent to independent laboratories for analysis. It
would be cost prohibitive and untimely to treat placer samples in this
manner as the entire 100 to 200 pound sample needs to be processed.
Each placer drill hole sample is a mini-bulk sample and the on-site
gravity treatment provides a fair measure of actual recovery by a
production plant.
_______________________

As bench mining progresses up the side of Nolan Valley, we are getting
ever closer to probable lode source areas and are continually
evaluating data and program design for on-going exploration for the
source of the placer gold on the Nolan Property. All work has been
carried out under the management of Mr. E. Armstrong, CPG, President of
Silverado's Alaskan Subsidiary, and a qualified person under NI 43-101.
