U.S. consumer sentiment improves slightly in late
WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- Consumer sentiment improved slightly in late February, according to a survey released Friday by the University of Michigan.
The UMich consumer sentiment index improved to 93.5 in February from 93.1 earlier in the month.
The index was still down sharply from 103.8 in January.
Economists were expecting an increase to about 93.5 in late February.
The current conditions index rose to 103.6 in late February from 100.4 earlier in the month.
This is down from 109.5 in January.
The expectations index rose to 88.5 in late February from 88.1 in early February. The index is down from 100.1 in January.
