Consumer sentiment soars in early Jan, UMich says
WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- Consumer sentiment soared in early January, according to researchers at the University of Michigan.
The consumer sentiment index rose to 103.2 from 92.6 in December.
The increase was above the consensus forecast of Wall Street economists who had expected sentiment to improve to 93.6.
The current conditions index rose to 108.9 from 97.0 in December.
The expectations index rose to 99.5 in January from 89.8 in December.
