Wall Street Seen Higher
Monday December 2, 7:08 am ET
LONDON (Reuters) - Wall Street was poised to open higher on Monday as investors hope for good news in a key economic number to underpin evidence of strength in the retail sector, but airlines were braced for a possible bankruptcy.
By 10:49 a.m. GMT, U.S. stock index futures were up about one percent.
The U.S. Institute of Supply Management index for November is due at 1500 GMT and is forecast to rise to 51.3 from 48.5 in October. A reading above 50 indicates expansion and would reassure investors that the world's biggest economy was still in recovery mode.
Retailers are set to be a focus after heavy shopping in the United States in the aftermath of last Thursday's Thanksgiving holiday
