U.S. initial jobless claims at two-month high ( 8:34am
WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- The U.S. labor market is still weakening, the Labor Department said.
The four-week average for first-time claims for state unemployment benefits rose for a fourth straight week, climbing by 2,000 to 410,750. It's the highest reading since mid-July.
Initial claims in the most recent week fell by 29,000 to 399,000 after rising in each of the previous four weeks.
Continuing claims also rose to the highest level since mid-July at 3.64 million.
