"Too good to leave the table. Too bold to think we can go up for nine straight days. So what happens?
How about a gradual selloff where long-termers barely notice the decline and short-termers dodge a point or two on the downside?
That's what I think we are in for. No more than that. And we wouldn't be in for that cloudy day -- not a storm even -- if we weren't part of a miraculous up streak. It's just a "we're due" decline, no more than that. Eight days is a lot of days to be up in a row. That's too many for profit-taking traders.
For me, as someone who can't "trade" anymore, I can't afford to leave. I won't be able to get back in.
But if I were at my old hedge fund, I think I would do some whamma-jamma trimming with the idea that I would be nimble enough to get back in lower.
Nothing more than that.
Might not even be worth it to sell at all if you aren't nimble enough to buy down a tiny bit from here."
