WASHINGTON, July 30 (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush has scheduled a news conference in the White House Rose Garden at 10:30 a.m. EDT/14:30 GMT on Wednesday, the White House said.
A White House official said no major announcements were expected. It will be the first time Bush is to face extended media questioning since a news conference on March 6, 13 days before he announced the beginning of the Iraq war.
The president is likely to face questions over his handling of now-discredited intelligence that Iraq was seeking to buy African uranium, his decision to keep secret a chapter dealing with Saudi Arabia in a congressional report on the Sept. 11, 2001. attacks on the United States, as well as Iraqi reconstruction and the struggling U.S. economy.
