"Do I Want to Be a Party Pooper? Heck Yes"

~"Yes, we are talking about leaving the party before it is over. Yes, we know that it really stinks to be home in bed while the music's cranking and, indeed, the gin's flowing. We know that it's a total bummer when you get that 11:30 p.m. phone call from your buddies at the pool table saying "You loser, get in your car and get back over here, we're having the time of our lives."

But that's what I am talking about doing as we approach Dow 9500. I want to rest up. I want to see some other guys party without me and watch them get carried away. I want to feel the heat from people who are mad at me for saying "Enough's enough, I am not going to ride this sucker back down because of some Freddie Mac nonsense or because some Fed chairman needs to keep his job so badly that he will lose all discipline and cut again."

I think these summer months are going to be tough on people who want to have some discipline. Let's take Yahoo! . Now that Yahoo! has broken out here, we are back in the world where investors say, heck, what's the difference if it's at $40 instead of $30? What does it matter? If a stock is stupendously overvalued, why can't it go to super-de-dooper stupendously overvalued? My philosophy at the hedge fund was always play to the end, play a little past the end and know that you can get out faster than anyone.

I can't do that now. I don't have that luxury.

So, as we circle 9500 on the Dow, I expect the yahoos to be calling me and telling me what a party pooper I am. And all I can say in my defense is, "Hold it, at least I got bullish when the bullishness was good to be had." "
