"Don't Sweat Today's Decline"

"Due. Remember, Joe DiMaggio wasn't a bum when he didn't hit in that 57th game. Sandy Koufax didn't strike out everyone. You can see the Yankees drop a few now and then before condemning the franchise to permanent disappointment.
That's the best way to view today's decline in the market, where the Dow got clocked for 83 points and the Nazz gave up 23 big ones. When you consider that Motorola disappointed -- funny, you would think that ne'er-do-well stock wouldn't have anyone left to disappoint, but hope springs eternal -- and Freddie Mac's long-standing execs were all canned, radical stuff, you had a fairly decent day!
We have had a market that has vaulted 1500 points in pretty much a straight line. We have not had a similar expansion in the economy. So, traders take some profits and investors rejigger their portfolios to get out of stocks that have moved, but shouldn't have.
All in a day's work. Nothing to panic over. "
