NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Of the Dow's 30 components, 25 are seeing gains, and 8 have reached 52-week highs.
The stocks making yearly highs were American Express (AXP) , Caterpillar (CAT) , Citigroup (C) , Exxon Mobil (XOM) , General Motors (GM) , Intel (INTC) , 3M (MMM) and Procter & Gamble (PG) .
Of the Nasdaq Composite's 10-most heavily weighted components, Dow member Intel and Dell Computer (DELL) reached 52-week highs.
The Dow reached a 16-month high of 9,783.49 and the Nasdaq touched a 19-month high of 1,940.97 earlier in the session.
