NEW YORK, Oct 4, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Playboy Enterprises, Inc. (PLA) and 1633SA, today announced an agreement to expand content distribution via wireless in Spain and Portugal. 1633SA will offer Playboy's content to mobile devices through wireless networks. Wireless customers will not only have the option to download wallpaper images, MMS content and wireless games using Playboy's unique content but also will have access to still photos and video clips from Playboy's vast archives.
"We are thrilled with the success of our wireless service in France and the results we have seen give us the confidence to roll out this service to Spain and Portugal," said Randy Nicolau, president of Playboy Online. "We believe there is a huge opportunity in the wireless arena and we will continue to focus our efforts on international expansion."
"The reaction to Playboy's wireless offering in France has been tremendous and as a result, the product is distributed via all major carriers in the country," said Michel Birnbaum, CEO of 1633SA. "Based on the growing popularity of this product, we think now is a perfect time to expand this offering to wireless users in additional countries."
With the addition of Spain and Portugal, Playboy is now offering wireless entertainment services through licensees in 15 countries around the globe including: Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Hong Kong, Australia and Brazil.
